1st Grade Gingerbread Building – 12/18/13

First Grade has been studying fairy tales such as Hansel and Gretel and The Gingerbread Man. As a culminating activity, students engineering their own gingerbread houses. The students used various types of candy to decorate their houses. Here are a few images from the event:

Ancient Egyptian Mumification – 12/17/13

Sixth Grade students are learning about the Ancient Egyptian process of mummification. For a more valued experience, the students mummified apples, using similar methods the Egyptians used! These apples will sit for 4 weeks, before being uncovered as “apple mummies.” Then, they will be buried in a replica tomb the students will construct.

Choir at Love Park – 12/15/13

On December 15th,  MaST’s Upper School choir performed at Love Park in Philadelphia. MaST’s Upper School performed at Love Park last year as well. Here are a few images from the event:

Shadoof Construction – 12/13/13

During the 6th grade unit of study on Ancient Egyptians, 6th graders reconstructed shadoofs. A shadoof is a lever, which has a bucket of water that picked up water, with a counter weight to pull the water bucket back out of the Nile. The invention of the shadoof made it easier for Egyptians to utilize the water of the Nile, which they still use today!

Amp Holiday Gift Shop – 12/04/13

AMP sponsored our annual Holiday Gift Shop on Thursday, December 5th and Friday, December 6th for our kindergarten through 6th grade students. They had a wide range of family-oriented gifts, which includes all members of the family.
